Updating iphone 2 2 without itunes

i saw that the iphone will be coming out with a new OS 3.0 in a few days. but, i do not want to upgrade to 3.0, rather to 2.2.1 so i can utilize jailbreaking.Does anyone know where i can download the 2.2.1 firmware update and manually install it myself without itunes? 3.0 will not be available for a couple months so the newest OS you can jailbreak will be 2.2.1. All you would need to do is take your new i Phone... At that point you would use Quickpwn to jailbreak.^Don't plug it into i Tunes and restore to 2.2.1.

Note: if possible please take backup using i Tunes in your Mac/ PC.

In this process you doesn’t need any Wired or Wirelessly network connection.

The first step here is to connect your phone to your computer, something that can easily be done via the trustworthy USB cable that you received in your package when you bought the phone.

Once the phone is connected you should automatically see it appear in the i Tunes application.

You can find more of these lists by searching the web for something like "ios IPSW download links".

i Phone i OS update means, to update the current operating system version of your i Phone.

If you see an error message while trying to update your device wirelessly, learn what to do.

If you need more space for a wireless update, you can update using i Tunes or delete content manually from your device.

i assume itunes would default to install the newest OS, which would be 3.0 in a matter of days. First, 3.0 will NOT be coming out in a few days, the article on the front page was just about it coming out eventually, probably in June. That will upgrade your baseband and since you asked about Yellowsn0w I'm assuming you want to unlock.

Also, i Tunes does not default to the latest version as you can shift click on restore in i Tunes and select whichever firmware you have downloaded that you wish to restore to... For this you need a custom 2.2.1 firmware with no baseband upgrade, which you can probably find on here.

If you're running a the developer or public beta, Apple might push you an update if the build numbers are different (we're still checking on that).
